I Am Surprised It Took This Long

I see that Geraldo Rivera has left Fox. He was lately seen most on "The Five" I'm really surprised this didn't happen a lot sooner. I don't have anything personal against Rivera. Don't know him and never met him. But I've followed his reporting for years even though I really didn't want to. He just always showed up. Rush Limbaugh used to refer to him as "The Grim Reaper". Anywhere there was really bad crisis or tragedy, he was always the go to guy. I watch "The Five" on a somewhat consistent basis. The format is always 4 conservatives and one liberal or at least moderate. The back and forth is usually insightful and often entertaining in a good way. It seldom was with Rivera. He was almost always arrogant and combative. Several times it lead to screaming matches between himself and one of the other moderators. I remember when Bob Beckel was the odd man out. Beckel was a radical Democrat. He was sharp, well informed and not afraid to stand his position. But he was also personable and often funny. That fit the format well. Recently that position has been filled by either Jessica Tarlov or Harold Ford. Tarlov is a liberal and Ford a moderate. Tarlov, even though the most divided from the others, is well spoken, intelligent and very graceful. Ford appears to be one of the most sharp and kind people I have ever heard. Everyone of the token opposites to the majority have, in my opinion always added great value to the dialog.....except Rivera. The last time I was watching and he was a participant, they were discussing the value of electric vehicles. There was of course a back and forth on EV versus fossil fuel driven autos and Rivera's final comment was..."as soon as Bentley comes out with one I'll buy it." Now there's your "John Q public" everyday guy.
